Large Automotive Manufacturer Requires Contract Staff for Multiple Locations
In 2011, an automotive manufacturer ended their contract with a national agency and issued an RFP for contingent labor to address performance, reporting, compliance issues and service failures at several locations.
They chose two regional firms to serve their locations throughout the U.S., one of them being Malone Solutions.
The client’s sites varied by volume, union contracts, and retooling schedules. Malone created a customized, yet consistent approach that worked across the client’s individual facilities. Through Malone’s process and flexibility, the transitions were achieved with little to no service disruptions.
The program rollout included ten locations. Malone worked with the corporate location to standardize companywide guidelines and goals; they then facilitated the discussions between our local staff and their individual sites.
Malone met with each location to identify their needs and customize a plan of action for their facility, and implement a successful transition plan to include notifying the current vendor and rolling their employees to Malone.
Malone successfully transitioned multiple facilities while averaging a 99% fill rate and lowering average turnover by 19%. Malone standardized processes throughout multiple facilities, where over 160 Malone employees were hired on full time.
High-Volume Environmental Services Staffing Taxes HR Resources of Hospital
The client needed a more efficient way to screen, train, and place large volumes of facility support personnel for their environmental services and food/nutrition positions. The client goal was to transition supplemental staff to their team after approximately 90 days.
Malone proposed a solution that would streamline the staffing process, resulting in a smoother operation for the hospital. Malone suggested assigning a seasoned Account Manager to provide on-site support to corporate headquarters.
Communicating directly with HR personnel, Malone’s Account Manager would track anticipated staffing volume and build a large pool of qualified and screened candidates for open and upcoming positions. Malone’s team would then provide customized orientation, training, and tailored employee handbooks to meet corporate standards.
By training associates on patient interaction and communication, Malone assisted in the rebuilding of the client’s Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) score in the areas they were placed. Malone could ensure that by screening prospects and with proper training in the beginning, their Environmental/Housekeeping and Food/Nutrition associates would positively affect the scores.
Today, Malone provides complete support for all Environmental/ Housekeeping and Food/Nutrition positions for the hospital and manages the following key tasks: Recruiting, Onboarding, Drug Screening, Background Screening, TB Testing/Chest X-Ray, Work Experience Verification, Training, Placement, Time Tracking, and Payroll Management.
The client has experienced a decreased turnover of 50% within their Environmental/Housekeeping and Food/Nutrition positions, and open positions are promptly filled with properly screened and qualified candidates.
Firm Must Fill Variety of Roles to Meet Fluctuating Demand
Client required staffing resources for projects during peak periods of productivity and varying seasonal requirements. Their staffing needs crossed a variety of roles, including administrative support, accounts receivable, customer service, purchasing, and production. Without the proper staffing and recruitment partner, managing a fluctuating workforce of this breadth would be difficult.
Develop a scalable model to reduce costs by engaging staff only when needed during periods of peak productivity. Malone’s model also mitigates risk for unemployment and healthcare costs, increases profit margins, and delivers exceptional results for the firm’s customers.

Malone recruited and maintained staff for part-time positions with a turnover rate of less than 2% in administrative positions. In addition, 98% of the staff Malone managed for the firm satisfactorily completed their assignments. Malone has provided staffing solutions to this firm successfully for over 12 years.
OEM Must Ramp Up Quickly to Launch New Facility
A large OEM was in the process of opening a new facility in Georgia. With the launch of the facility on the horizon, finding top personnel was a high priority. They wanted to select a single provider they could trust to provide focused attention to their staffing and recruiting needs. It was critical to partner with a firm who could quickly provide talent across multiple skill sets ranging from plant manager to production personnel.
Malone developed a targeted recruiting matrix to staff key positions across the company, including plant operations, administrative support, preproduction staff, and production.

Malone’s efforts resulted in having key personnel in place prior to groundbreaking, which allowed the OEM to achieve key milestones ahead of schedule. Malone was then selected to continue as the exclusive provider of contingent labor solutions for production, safety, and administrative positions.
Throughout the contract, Malone has exceeded fill ratio expectations in every category. By utilizing a thorough screening, vetting, and onboarding process, the turnover rate among contingent labor was 10% versus the OEM’s industry average 16%.
Lower overall turnover of staff increased efficiencies and reduced costs by retaining knowledge while reducing training and lost productivity costs. The OEM has drawn upon Malone to recruit positions outside the scope of our project, including firefighting personnel.
Tier One Auto Manufacturer Needs Reliable Secondary Staffing Partner
A large international Tier 1 Automotive Supplier needed a secondary staffing provider to provide backup support to its existing national staffing partner at an individual site. The current provider was not meeting expectations with turnover rates, fill ratios, and overall quality of applicants being placed.
Malone created a proprietary recruiting matrix custom designed to meet the needs of the specific location. By designing the matrix in a site-specific format vs. a national, “one-size-fits-all” approach, Malone was able to deliver services customized to each individual location.
Malone provided an On-Site Manager to perform all HR functions for Malone contingent labor force, conduct performance evaluations and coaching, conduct orientations, lead business reviews, conduct safety training, and track KPIs.
Malone staffs a variety of positions, including machine operators, welding/stamping operators, forklift and material handling, production associates, and administrative support.
Malone was able to achieve significant improvements in key performance areas, including:
- Turnover decreased from 44% with the supplier’s previous provider to 19% with Malone.
- Fill Ratio increased from 88% with the supplier’s previous provider to 100% with Malone.
- Fill Time reduced from 4 days with the supplier’s previous provider to 1 day with Malone.
Malone was awarded the exclusive agreement to provide all staffing services in 2006 and has since become the exclusive staffing provider for numerous additional sites for the same supplier in three states. At these sites, Malone has been able to replicate the success of Malone’s first location in Somerset, Kentucky.
This ability to scale from site to site demonstrates Malone’s ability to provide national coverage with local solutions by tailoring staffing models to individual site needs.
