OPERATION TITLE: Painter
SUMMARY: Set up and paint all finished parts and assemblies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

1. Must be able to lift 35 pounds repeatedly – a minimum of 2 times per day.
2. Makes own set-ups including:
3. Filling of paint pots.
4. Cleaning and maintaining spray guns.
5. Checks to see that parts to be painted are ready for painting.
6. Adjusts angle of spray nozzle for multiple head spray painting.
7. Adjusts regulators to set air pressure and paint volume.
8. Loads and unloads conveyer when used.
9. Frequent climbing up and down scaffolding.
10. Uses electrical or mechanical hoists as required.
11. Directs flow of parts to and from area.
12. Directs work of helpers when used.
13. Records number of parts painted on time card and on move ticket.
14. Keeps booth and work area clean using prescribed materials for floor coating and booth coating.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Receives job prints, work order, and/or instructions from supervisor and proceeds with a minimum of supervision and direction.
Apply prepared paints, lacquers or enamels to all products where medium quality finish is required .
Thin paints to proper consistency and viscosity for spraying or brushing application and adjust equipment to obtain the finish requirements and economy.
May do masking.
Maintain and keep equipment and area in a safe, clean condition and working order.
Work assignments are subject to process checks and final inspection.
Operator is required to be able to read and write and must have normal color vision.
Operator may be required to drive a fork truck to move parts to and from the paint booth area.
Performs other work of similar or comparable nature incidental to the performance of the operation.
Assists new operators in learning the correct and safe operation of the equipment when required.
