Job Summary for a Guard Shack Team Member:
The Warehouse Guard Shack Employee is responsible for controlling access to the warehouse property, monitoring and documenting vehicle and personnel entry/exit, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for visitors, truck drivers, and employees entering the premises.
1st shift: $18.00 per hour
2nd shift: $19.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities for a Guard Shack Team Member:
- Monitor and control access at the main gate or guard shack.
- Check in/out delivery trucks, visitors, and employees according to company policies.
- Verify identification, shipping documents, and vehicle information.
- Maintain accurate logs of all inbound and outbound traffic (manual or electronic).
- Inspect vehicles and/or trailers as required for security compliance.
- Conduct perimeter and facility security patrols, if required.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents on-site; report findings to management or law enforcement when necessary.
- Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) when applicable.
- Ensure all safety, fire, and security procedures are followed.
- Provide clear communication to warehouse operations about incoming/outgoing deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional guard shack area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications for a Guard Shack Team Member:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of security, guard, or warehouse experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Basic computer or tablet data entry skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- May involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Work Schedule:
- Rotating shifts, 4 on 4 off or 3 on 3 off: the hours are 6:00AM-6:00PM OR 6:00PM-6:00AM
Work Environment:
- Primarily stationed in a guard shack at the warehouse entrance.
- Frequent interaction with truck drivers, warehouse personnel, and visitors.
