OPERATION TITLE: Fork Truck
SUMMARY: Operates power fork truck moving material and equipment in and about Plant property.
1st Shift-$20 7a-3:30p
2nd Shift-$21 3:30p-12a
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds repeatedly – a minimum of 2 times per day.
- Orders and maintains adequate supplies of raw materials for use in manufacturing operations utilizing daily shipment planners and daily review of steel yard inventory.
- Performs daily housekeeping review of outside yards as needed and performs housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe outside yard environment.
- Keeps material stacked and in order.
- Assists machine operators on set-up, where heavy dies and jigs are used.
- Supplies machine operators with material, anticipates the needs of operators whenever possible.
- Operates equipment in a safe manner.
- Loads and unloads trucks and freight cars.
- Loads and unloads skids when necessary.
- Services equipment at specified times.
- Operator checks job travelers for special instructions or notes BEFORE proceeding with job assigned.
- Perform housekeeping duties as necessary to keep the work area safe, clean and in good order.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Receives instructions from foreman.
Must be familiar with parts.
Operates a power fork truck and mobile Karry Krane in transporting materials, machined parts, products, etc., on company premises.
Supplies machine operators with material.
Assists machine operators on set-ups where heavy dies and jigs are used.
Loads and unloads trucks and freight cars.
Assists new operators in learning the correct and safe operation of the equipment when required.
Picks up and delivers loads, tiers up material in stacks.
Maintains and services truck needs such as fuel, oil, lubrication, cooling, liquids, and charges batteries.
Reports malfunctions to supervisor.
Works from verbal and written instructions.
Under supervision of foreman or expediter.
Requires the ability to read and write, add and subtract whole numbers, use direct reading and fixed gauges.
Takes good workman like care of tools and equipment.
Must be able to proficiently read blueprints to identify parts. Must have normal skill at driving and exercise care of material and equipment at all times.
