Freight Forwarder Compliance Specialist – Direct Hire

Position Summary:
This is a newly created, high-impact role that will manage and ensure full compliance throughout the freight forwarding lifecycle–from initial ground transportation through TSA clearance and final air cargo delivery.
The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, adaptable, and confident in managing compliance processes within a dynamic, fast-paced logistics environment. Strong freight forwarding experience and an in-depth understanding of TSA and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all freight forwarding compliance operations across multiple transportation modes
- Ensure adherence to TSA and DHS regulations and documentation standards
- Collaborate with transportation providers to maintain seamless compliance from truck to air
- Oversee time-critical shipment processes with a strong focus on accuracy and cost-effectiveness
- Monitor changes to regulations and proactively adjust procedures as needed
- Maintain detailed records for audits and internal compliance reporting
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to resolve delays or non-compliance issues
- Support or lead audits and process reviews related to freight forwarding activities
- Take initiative to troubleshoot issues and ensure end-to-end shipment integrity
Qualifications
- 3-7+ years of experience in freight forwarding, with an emphasis on compliance
- Thorough understanding of TSA guidelines, DHS compliance, and international air freight processes
- Experience coordinating time-sensitive or mission-critical shipments
- High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and think critically in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with logistics management systems and shipment tracking software
Preferred Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
- TSA/DHS certification or compliance-related training a plus
