Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Location: Louisville, KY
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Shift: All shifts available; shift preference by seniority. New team members must be available to work any shift, weekends, and holidays; a set shift is not assigned until after an initial training period. The plant operates continuously, and individual schedules are typically 40 hours per week.
Pay: Day Shift starting rate: $54.08 | 2nd Shift: $56.33 | 3rd Shift: $56.58

Position Summary
Carbide Industries is seeking qualified Journeyman Electricians for full-time positions at our manufacturing facility in Louisville, KY. Our Louisville facility has been making Calcium Carbide for customers in the steel and fuel gas industries since 1941 and operates the only Calcium Carbide furnace in the US and Canada. We employ approximately 150 people in the state of Kentucky. Our Journeyman Electrician team members work around the clock to provide crucial support services for the Louisville plant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and maintain electrical and electronic equipment related to systems such as material handling, crushing, screening, pneumatic, hydraulic, and pumping systems.
- Calibrate weighing equipment such as tares on weigh belts and impact plates, and atmospheric monitoring equipment such as gas analyzers, and other related equipment.
- Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings for electrical or electronic systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and input work orders in a computer system.
- Follow the National Electrical Code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
Qualifications
- High School equivalent education and 3 years of sustained work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLCs and work with computerized work order systems.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen (pre-hire and random).
- Prompt and daily attendance with reliable transportation required.
- Availability to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, especially during the initial training period.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 25 pounds and move up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to frequently stand, climb, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch as needed.
