Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Niles, IL
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Shift: Mon-Fri, 11:00 PM-7:30 AM
Overtime available – Flexibility to cover other shifts/weekends as needed
Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support food safety and quality compliance in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role works on the plant floor and in the lab, performing testing, audits, and documentation to ensure compliance with food safety standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality and food safety checks, product sampling, and lab testing
- Document results and communicate deviations to QA Leadership
- Review analytical, microbiological, and sanitation data
- Support corrective actions, root cause investigations, and audits
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality records
- Calibrate equipment and maintain lab organization and supplies
- Place materials/products on quality hold as directed
- Support training and reinforce quality culture on the production floor
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and microbiology
- Experience or coursework in pH, water activity, viscosity, allergen testing, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
Preferred:
- 1+ year experience in food manufacturing or regulated environment
- Microbiological testing and sanitation verification experience
- Familiarity with SAP, PLM, QDMS, or Minitab
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to work in cold, warm, humid, and noisy environments
- Must be able to wear PPE and taste products as required
