We are searching for a Director of Operations for an Engineering services firm in Marietta Georgia.
Summary:
The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role focused on driving strategy, process improvement, mentorship, and leadership development. This position oversees the Project Management, Technical Procurement, and Process Engineering departments, ensuring alignment with company goals and fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and safety. As a trusted partner to the NAM President, the Director will focus on building the next generation of leaders while leading customer- and vendor-facing initiatives, promoting DEI efforts, and embracing change management principles. Additionally, this role will leverage technology to optimize operations, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry advancements.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Business Partnership:
- Trusted Partner to the President:
Act as a strategic advisor to the NAM President, providing insight and recommendations to support business objectives, operational performance, and long-term growth. - Customer and Vendor Engagement:
Serve as the primary operational contact for key customers and vendors, building and maintaining strong relationships. Ensure alignment of operational efforts with customer needs, address issues proactively, and foster vendor partnerships that support business objectives. - Organizational Alignment:
Develop strategies that align Project Management, Technical Procurement, and Engineering departments with the company’s long-term vision. Promote collaboration across teams to ensure operational goals are met.
Process Improvement, Change Management, and Safety:
- Continuous Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, drive process improvement initiatives, and ensure the adoption of best practices across departments. Create a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous learning. - Change Management:
Lead and implement change management initiatives across the organization, ensuring smooth transitions for operational improvements and new processes. Foster an environment of openness to change, with clear communication and stakeholder engagement. - Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all operations meet or exceed safety, regulatory, and environmental standards. Champion a culture of safety, empowering employees to prioritize safe practices and proactively address risks. - Performance Metrics and Accountability:
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success, identify areas for improvement, and ensure accountability across departments. Regularly assess processes and make data-driven adjustments to enhance performance.
Mentorship, Leadership Development, and DEI Initiatives:
- Develop Future Leaders:
Mentor department heads and high-potential employees, fostering their growth into future leadership roles. Promote a culture of leadership development and succession planning across all operational teams. - Team Empowerment and Engagement:
Inspire teams to take ownership of their roles, providing support and guidance to ensure success. Foster a positive work environment where employees feel empowered, valued, and motivated to achieve high-impact results. - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):
Lead DEI initiatives within the operations team, ensuring that hiring practices, team culture, and daily operations reflect the company’s commitment to inclusion. Promote a diverse workforce that reflects the values of equity and respect.
Customer-Focused Operations and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Customer Success:
Actively engage with customers to understand their needs, ensure expectations are met or exceeded, and address issues promptly. Partner with the Sales and Business Development teams to support customer visits, proposal development, and new project initiatives. - Customer-Facing Project Execution:
Build strong relationships with customers, acting as a key operational liaison. Ensure customer needs are met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle with timely communication and proactive issue resolution.
- Vendor Relationships:
Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective procurement of materials and services. Collaborate with the Technical Procurement Manager to negotiate favorable contracts and ensure timely delivery. - Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Ensure alignment between Project Management, Engineering, and Technical Procurement teams to deliver seamless project execution. Promote a culture of teamwork, open communication, and mutual accountability across departments.
Experience/Education:
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in operations, with a focus on strategy, process improvement, and mentorship, preferably in the oil and fat industry.
- Proven track record of developing and mentoring high-performing teams, with a focus on leadership development and succession planning.
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to align operations with broader company goals and provide insights that drive long-term growth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with senior leadership, clients, and internal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field is required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
