Malone Staffing is hiring a Payroll Specialist in Hartsville, SC
Pay: $21 per hour
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing payroll for the organization’s employees. This role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, maintaining accurate employee records, and providing exceptional customer service to address payroll-related inquiries. The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in the organization by ensuring that employees are compensated accurately and on time.
Collect and review timekeeping records from various departments or time-tracking systems.
Calculate and process regular and special payroll runs, including wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
Verify accuracy of data input, such as hours worked, pay rates, and employee information.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy of personal and financial information.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, benefits, and deductions.
Monitor changes in employee status, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and transfers, and adjust payroll accordingly.
Stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate tax withholding and reporting.
Prepare and file payroll tax documents, including W-2 forms, 1099s, and quarterly tax reports.
Reconcile payroll records to general ledger entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, deductions, and other compensation-related matters.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or errors in payroll processing.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve complex payroll issues.
Generate regular payroll reports for management, finance, and audit purposes.
Assist in preparing financial reports related to labor costs and payroll expenses.
Systems and Technology:
Utilize payroll software and tools to process payroll accurately and efficiently.
Collaborate with IT or software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to payroll systems.
Communicate effectively with employees, HR, and management regarding payroll-related matters.
Provide training or guidance to employees on payroll-related processes and systems.
Experience: Previous experience in payroll processing or related roles is highly desirable.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with payroll software and systems is advantageous.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail to ensure precise payroll processing and compliance.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and reconcile discrepancies.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and stakeholders effectively.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously.
Problem-Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Confidentiality: High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
