Job details:
- Adjusts machines for optimization based on specific needs, goals and limitations of machines.
- Maintains and repairs production and office facilities by performing minor electrical repairs, minor plumbing repairs, minor carpentry repairs, etc.
- Maintains production, transport, shipping and packing equipment in good working order per preventive maintenance schedules
- Repairs equipment used in the production, transport, shipping and packing of finished goods and raw materials
- Assists departmental supervisor in the relocation of production assets, implementation of new assets and removal of old assets
- Updates equipment maintenance log
- Orders supplies required for the upkeep, preventive maintenance and repair of equipment used in the production, transport, shipping and packing of finished goods and raw materials
- Maintains good housekeeping and an orderly workshop
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of general maintenance, general repair and general upkeep of machines and equipment
- Working knowledge of structural, functional and machine components of mechanics
- Working knowledge of various types of sewing machines (preferred but not required)
- Adherence to health and safety regulations
- Ability to speak, write, read and understand production schedules, material tags, pattern specifications, location prompts, employer directions, etc. in alpha-numeric English
- Analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Basic understanding of mathematic principles to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and units of measure
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
- Able to see small and large type, near and far, with or without corrective lenses
- Able to hear, comprehend and speak at volumes appropriate for a factory, production-type environment
- Able to stoop, crouch, kneel and bend down periodically
- Able to climb and/or descend steps, ladder and/or ramp inclines
- Able to reach, grab, grip, hold, handle, pull, push, carry with both arms and hands
- Able to maneuver one’s body in and around aisles, workstations, bins, forklifts, co-workers, etc.
- Able to walk, sit and/or stand for up to 10-hour workdays (most workdays are 8 hours)
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (on rare occasions)
