JOB DESCRIPTION – PROJECT ESTIMATOR
TITLE: Project Estimator-Construction
LOCATION: The Greater Louisville Region
REPORTS TO: Senior Project Estimator
SHIFT: Day
JOB OBJECTIVE: The Project Estimator (PE) will support and work closely with territory sales reps to provide pre-sales activities that include project estimating services. The PE will ideally have construction industry knowledge with abilities to work with blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications. They will be highly organized, detail oriented, and have strong computer administrative and follow-up skills. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Review Dodge identifying bidding opportunities & notify sales reps
- Update bid opportunities on Bid Tracking Report
- Extract all pertinent bid documents & set-up job folder for each project
- Provide project take-offs from drawings & specifications identifying all product opportunities for pricing
- Prepare pricing requests for gym equipment, outdoor athletic equipment, indoor bleachers, and scoreboards/videoboards
- Update pricing summaries identifying all job costs for team review
- Prepare bid scope & preliminary proposal for team review
- Prepare product specs / cut sheets as needed for bids
- Participate in project review meetings before final bid
- Fill out post bid forms (manufacturer MSA’s, Owner direct purchase orders)
- Participate in project handoff meetings from Sales/PE to Project Management
- Handle project pre-bid related questions as needed
DESIRED BACKGROUND & SKILL SETS:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent year of experience
- Knowledge of construction processes and terminology
- Ability to work with blueprints, structural drawings, and construction specifications
- Must have strong computer skills; Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel; Bluebeam
- Must possess strong written & oral communication skills
- Must be detailed oriented, organized, with excellent time management skills
- Self-motivated in learning/developing estimating skill sets
- Project estimating experience a plus
